Achieving Africa’s Energy Transition

Senior Industry Leaders Will Share Their Insights
Countries across Africa face the ongoing challenge of scaling energy production and expanding domestic access to reliable electricity. In this, the need to balance the continued use of fossil fuels with the move to cleaner, more sustainable sources remains a prime concern. However, it is not a case of one size fits all – nations have differing strategies to reach their development and energy transition targets.
Financing the energy evolution remains complex, too. The limited availability of affordable capital, amid worries around investment risk and regulatory uncertainty, continues to hinder progress. At the same time, global geopolitical shifts are reshaping funding dynamics. The US has withdrawn from climate finance commitments but the EU has pledged to forge new partnerships in Africa to enhance both energy security and climate resilience.
This online panel, Achieving Africa’s Energy Transition, hosted by the Financial Times in partnership with TotalEnergies, is for policymakers, energy experts and finance leaders seeking to explore the latest energy investment and funding strategies. The discussion will consider ways to reduce risk and build an equitable and resilient energy future across Africa.
